Magnificent Frigatebird

These amazing birds, with superlatives built into their titles, have taken over a small island north of Cancun as a breeding grounds. Thousands of the large, elegant birds gather to find romance and begin their families. The air is filled with the birds as they circle in frenzies. As part of their mating ritual’s the males blow up the bright red linings under their throats. Access is limited, but we spent three hours on the island earlier this year and came back with a story to tell.
