Our two Barn Swallows spent the morning tag-teaming their way along the Potomac River near Washington. Finally, they landed on a branch for a conversation that looked a little steamy.

After a while, the male (left) took off and the female moved to a new branch overlooking the river.

She spent a few minutes preening, before growing impatient.

She looked around as if to wonder where he went.

Then she noticed him approaching.

And approach he did.
